We all know that Animoca Brands has an eye for turning trademarks and IPs into NFT gems. The Hong Kong-based game software and venture capital company is an active investor in more than 150 of the world’s leading NFT and metaverse-related companies. So the community has high hopes for its latest find.
Tatsunoko Production produced the mecha TV anime series between 1981 to 1982. The story revolves around Gold Lightan, a robot that normally stays compact and looks like a cigarette lighter. The twist is that he can transform into a giant 30-meter tall robot when called upon to fight against evil. With the help of his assistant robot, Gold Lightan joins forces with a young boy called Hiro and his friends. So the storyline is mainly about defending Earth against the alien invasions orchestrated by King Ibaruda.
This isn’t the first time Animoca Brands is teaming up with a Japanese IP. Doraemon’s licensing company, Fujiko Pro, provided Animoca Brands with the license to build mobile games using the characters of Doraemon and friends. In 2015, it released Doraemon Gadget Rush. The game pushed the growth of Animoca Brands because it became the number one downloaded app in China, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Brunei, and Macau. So “Gold Lightan The Golden Warrior” is definitely in good hands!
Animoca Brands expects to launch the first series of “Gold Lightan The Golden Warrior” NFTs by Q2 2022.
